Gel Mood Changing Nails

I was surprised that a lot of my fashion classmates did not know about gel mood changing nails, so I decided to write an entry about it.

This past weekend, I needed to get my nails done, so I went to my usual spot in Richmond — Artisan Nails and Spa. Usually, I get chrome nails, but I decided to do something a little different. One color caught my eye on the nail sample stick. The base of the nail was an amethyst purple color with specks of red. I looked at the name of the stick and it was labeled “Mood Changing.” I have tried mood changing nails before, but I was not crazy about them. I started realizing that the reason why I did not like them before is because of how they were done at another nail salon, so I gave it another try and I am SO glad that I did.

Gel mood changing nails are done just like regular gel nails in terms of placing your nails under UV lighting; however, the difference is in the top coat. The top coat contains a special pigment that allows the wearer’s nails to change colors depending on their body temperature. If your body temperature is normal or in heat, then the nails appear in a light shade. If your body temperature is cool, then the nails appear in a dark shade. In my case, the red nails are seen in normal body temperature and purple nails are seen in cool body temperature.

Before writing this post, I did a little bit of research to see when this trend started, which was around 2015.

Are there any nail trends that you have tried or want to try? Let me know. :)
